((So this is a lil mixer rp, for characters to forge friendships and alliances. Or if you want to establish the relationships between a couple of your own characters. Anyones welcome, but please follow the posting order that will be establised after a few people post. Romans can sneak into the ball if they have a good mask! Thanks for reading!))
Flint was at a masquerade ball. A dance of sorts, a suit and tie event. It was taking place by the amphitheater at the Greek camp. It was early, and only a few of the attendees had arrived so far, himself being one of them, his best friend Jasper being another. The son of Hermes waved to his friend, and Jasper saluted him. Jasper was on the stage, tuning his guitar, a glossy black Les Paul with a gold outline. It was a gift from his father Apollo. Flint diverted his attention from Jasper and took a look at himself.
He was wearing a navy waistcoat suit with a red handkerchief sticking out of the chest pocket. The handkerchief was identical in color to his bowtie, which was clasped firmly to his crisp white shirt, below his chin. He wore a neavy mask which covered the top half of his face and the left side of his bottom half. Flint's hair was styled as usual, spiked and swept to one side neatly. He had to admit to himself, he felt that he looked quite good for a Hermes kid in a suit. He took a look at the time on his silver watch, which was wrapped round his wrist. Seven forty in the evening. People would start arriving in about ten minutes, when Jasper and his temporary band would start playing music. When the party finally kicked off to a start.
Flint needed this. For the past few months all he'd been doing was training for battles that didn't seem to be coming anytime soon. He was already skilled with his pistols, and was getting better with the shortswords he sometimes carried instead of the sidearms. But training every day could get boring. Thankfully this dance would mix things up a little. It would provide Flint with a chance to mingle, and perhaps even get to dance with another girl, someone who had also come to the ball without a date. Or perhaps he wouldn't get a dance, in which case he'd spend the night rocking out to Jasper's music.
Either way, tonight was going to be fantastic, Flint could tell.

The masquerade ball was actually something Vince had been looking forward to as of late. The week before the ball had been a stressful one for him, though not because of the upcoming dance. His duties as Taxiarhos seemed to have become more and more of a burden as of late, and a fresh batch of demigods had begun training to enter into the Greek military force just at the start of the week. The training of new recruits was rarely an event that left Vince feeling good about himself. So very few new Greek demigods had any skill as a collective group until a few weeks of training had past by. Shaking his head as though he could shake the thoughts of his duties from his mind, Vince stepped into the Greek amphitheater. The open-aired venue had been decorated beautifully that night. Strings of lights were strung up from column to column around the outer edge of the amphitheater, and Jasper, one of Vince's brothers, sat upon a beautiful wooden stage that the Greeks used from time to time at camp events. The dance had a very simplistic look to it, yet its simplicity was what made it seem so attractive. In the amphitheater that night there could be no thoughts of impending wars, curses, or mythological monsters. It was a sanctuary that night.
Even the weather was agreeable, Vince thought. He glanced upwards towards a beautiful night sky. The stars hung perfectly, lighting up the night sky. A slight breeze blew down the stairs of the amphitheater and near the stage, but the temperature of that night had been lovely enough to cause the breeze to be pleasant. Vince smiled slightly. It would be a good night, he thought. He wore a simple black suit and tie with a collared, white shirt. The look drew little attention to Vince, but he still wore it well. Noticing a son of Hermes, someone he recognized from his time lately around camp, Vince approached the him. "Nice to see I'm not the only one here a few minutes early. My name's Vince, nice to meet you." He stuck out his hand the the guy, waiting to see if he'd shake it.

((A posting order will be established when theres 4 people. Until then, post as you see fit))
Flint stopped admiring himself when a kid with golden hair addressed him. The kid wore a black suit with a crisp white shirt. Smart and simple. Flint liked the guy's style. He was pretty sure he recognised the boy from Apollo cabin. Flint spent a lot of his time during dinner at the dining pavilion pulling funny faces at his friend Jasper, also a child of Apollo, and he was pretty sure he'd seen Vince among the people who sat at the table of the music god's children. He took Vince's hand and shook it firmly with a toothy grin. "Hi, I'm Flint, and yes, I know I have a strange name. Apperently my dad gave it to me, maybe as a joke or something", he greeted, breaking the handshake discreetly. The music was already kicking to a start and as the music began, people began to file out of their cabins in dresses and suits, eager to attend the party. Flint looked to Vince. The boy seemed alright, from what Flint could tell so far. He'd been kind enough to approach Flint and say hello to him, so at least he was friendly. A lot of people wouldn't have the confidence to walk right up to a stranger and introduce themselves, and the fact that Vince did introduce himself made Flint like the boy's style even more.
He glanced across the amphitheater, taking the atmosphere in as the party sparked up. Jasper and his band were playing America's Suitehearts by Fall Out Boy. Flint's friend had given him a brief on how the music was going to play out during the night. The band were going to play a few songs, and then a DJ would take over, playing a variety of slow and fast paced songs. "Great night for a party eh?", he noted, looking at Vince. Flint guessed that the other boy was as eager to party as he was, after all, they had both arrived quite early.
A group of Flint's siblings walked by, grinning menacingly at him. Hermes kids were known for being troublemakers and tonight was no different. One of Flint's brothers opened his jacket to show Flint the vast array of fireworks he had hidden inside the top half of his suit. The kid sniggered and ran off behind the stage followed by the other Hermes kids. Flint rolled his eyes and raised his eyebrows at Vince. "Boys will be boys eh?," he chuckled, pointing at the pranksters. "Let's just hope those fireworks aren't aimed at us!
He was pretty sure the Romans would be disgusted by this event. A bunch of demigods having fun rather than training. The idea would have sickened them. Honestly Flint would love if there was no tension between Greeks and Romans. If tensions were non-existent, Flint would gladly invite the Romans over to party. He had no grudge against the Romans, but apperently most Greeks and Romans didn't get along. Hopefully none would turn up tonight. The last thing Flint wanted to see was a fight ruining the dance.

Honestly, Aurora considered her attire to be the most important part of her appearance. What she had on was unconventionally lavish, even for her standards. Oftentimes, when told to dress up, Aurora simply donned a navy suit or even a nice cardigan. Her attire tonight was a bit different, more what one would expect to be worn to well… a party. Consisting of a navy dress and vintage leather jacket, her legs gowned in black tights and coordinating black heels. A simple hairstyle to match as well, just a crown of bang and hair that framed the face pulled behind to form a crown with her platinum locks. A dusting of simple pale makeup to the face, along with thin eyeliner was enough for Aurora.
If she had heard correctly, the ball was to be held at the amphitheater. After all, was there another venue to fit such an event. Aurora could hear the muted chords in the distance, with a limited recognition of the pattern. It was America’s Suitehearts, by Fall Out Boy. That much she could tell, for the vocals and sounds were definitely different from the original tracks. Not that it was a bad thing however, Aurora was still fond of whoever happened to be doing the covers. Aurora stepped into the amphitheater, her black heels clicking on the ground. Parties weren’t often her cup of tea. Honestly, letting go once in a while was for the best, even for the uptight Swede.
The first thing she noticed was the son of Hermes, what was his name. Flint? That sounded about right. He was conversing with a blonde she knew as the Taxiaharos, Vince Upton, son of Apollo. Flint’s attention was briefly turned to a boy, Aurora catching a glimpse of a jacket full of firecrackers and fireworks. Aurora approached the duo, tapping her toes on the ground. “Please tell me I’m not going to be dismantling any more explosives tonight”, Aurora smirked, waving towards Flint and Vince. Aurora looked down, smoothing out a crease in the lap of her dress. “So, Solus. You and your friends are quite the party I hear”, Aurora said, her crimson orbs taking a look around the area.

Vince grinned ever so slightly as Flint introduced himself. The son of Hermes was correct in saying that his name was odd, but Vince liked it. There were certainly worse names out there. Vince glanced over towards the stage when Jasper and a few other of Vince's brothers had begun the first few lines of America's Suitehearts. Vince nodded his head in approval at the song. While the children of Apollo all had varying musical tastes, from alternative to country to heavy metal, each of Vince's brothers and sisters were capable of making incredible music. "Well, Flint, I hope you're ready to party tonight. I, for one, am ready for some fun." Vince paused as a group of Flint's brothers approached, snickering in a not-so-subtle way. "Although, I'm not sure that's the kind of fun I necessarily want to be around right now." A set of fireworks and a mischievous smirk were flashed at Flint, and Vince had to control himself from stopping the group and confiscating their fireworks. Turning to Flint, he warned him, "Make sure those fireworks are aimed at more of an, uh, upwards fashion than at any one, alright? I'm holding you responsible if anything or anyone is burnt by any type of firework." Vince said it in a light voice, but firm enough that Flint wouldn't think he was joking around. The last thing the party needed was a burnt down amphitheater.
A few feet away, Vince saw Aurora approaching. He liked the vibe that the daughter of Ares typically gave off. She had a certain mindset that few Greeks seemed to possess. As she approached and asked if she would be needed to dismantle explosives, Vince smirked. "I certainly hope not, but I'm sure someone has a spare pair of wire-cutters laying around if we need them. You look nice, Aldenberg. It's good to see you out and about." He looked around the amphitheater, suddenly a bit concerned at his inability to find Flint's siblings. Meanwhile, Vince's siblings continued playing Fall Out Boy, which the crowd of demigods seemed to enjoy greatly. It seemed that, in this setting, simply being a teenager came before being the demigods and soldiers that they were during the week.

Flint nodded to Vince, sincerity in his eyes. "Don't worry man, I'll make sure my siblings don't turn someone into a human torch", he assured the boy, as a girl in navy approached. Her platinum hair immediately identified her as Aurora Aldenberg. Flint had heard quite a lot about the girl, and he knew she wasn't one to cross. Being a daughter of Ares made her naturally tough, and she was probably skilled in just about any weapon that could be found at camp. The girl didn't scare Flint, as he knew she and he were on the same side, but he certainly didn't want to piss her off in anyway. He was wary of her. Regardless, Flint waved at Aurora, a look of fake surprise on his face. "Aurora! You know it's funny. The oracle spoke to me today, and she told me I'd have quite the night with a beauty in navy. Know anything about that?", he smirked, clearly showing that he was being sarcastic. Of course he hadn't gone to the Oracle for advice on girls. That would have been ridiculous. But he'd learned in his time that joking was the ultimate ice breaker ninety per cent of the time. He'd never spoken to Aldenberg before, but she interested him. She seemed different.
Flint's ears perked up America's Suitehearts came to an end. The band decided to keep in the theme of happiness and excitement. They began to play 'On Top of The World' by Imagine Dragons, however they played it much quicker than the original. This sparked somewhat of a rave in the middle of the amphitheater. Demigods flocked to the center of the venue, and began dancing. Some could dance quite well, showing off stylish moves, while others were horrible dancers, and strutted across the dance floor in such a way that made Flint wonder if someone dropped a few ice cubes down their pants. He smiled at the two demigods he was faced with, already enjoying the night.

Sometimes he couldn’t believe himself, other times he couldn’t stop believing. The world was a confusing place, but you had to make the most of it. So when Alfie heard about an event being hosted at the greek camp he couldn’t help but feel obliged to attend. He smirked slightly and stood up from his bed. Alfie often forgot the tensions of romans and greeks, all the fighting felt pointless in his eyes. But he liked himself a good fight, especially with someone he wasn’t brothers/sisters with. So, why was the boy staring pointlessly outside, where the party inched closer by the second. He closed his eyes and took a breather, letting his shoulders relax. Maybe he was afraid of getting caught, but he was roman, they weren’t supposed to be afraid, right? And plus, the small boy could take on a few angry greeks, no biggy.
This was just a wild guess, but he believed the ‘ball’ would be formal, after all, this was the stuff of disney movies, with balls and pumpkins and princess kiss scenes. Though, if this was as classy as he had heard, there wouldn’t be much of that. The boy turned his gaze down onto a large brown box, where most of his belongings laid. His fingers moved around a black clasp that kept him from peeking in and lifted the light cover. Inside were a few books, emergency weapons, clothes and surprising, makeup. Digging through his things he found a white shiny dress shirt with a grey vest and dress pants. Under that was a deep red bow-tie, which he kept for special occasions.
He plucked off his clothing and put on his nice attire. He felt like something was wrong but he buried the feeling down into the back of his body and headed for the door. As his feet walked happily towards a method of transport he found various people looking at him like he was deformed. I mean, they had a fair point, a person in a suit in the middle of a training camp was not to be trusted. He simply smirked and continued towards the greek camp.
The good thing about being not popular is that the greeks wouldn’t know who he was. With his un-cocky personality and not roman characteristics ment it was a great opportunity to look around. He had to admit that the party looked quite amazing, but he knew roman parties were pretty better. With a cute grin he put on his best face and strolled in.
With a look around he knew exactly what was bugging him, it was a masquerade party. With a calm face he nicked a red mask of a rather drunk boy and scurried forward into the crowd. In a few moments he caught sight of a small group of people; a girl and two boys. What was a party without a bit of interaction? He placed the ‘phantom-of-the-opera’ like mask on his narrow face and came forward. "Hey," he greeted with a small wave.

Bia had really wanted to go to this ball. It was something that would be both the same and very different to what she was used to. She'd sent a letter home and by advise of her dear sister she'd received a pretty dress and a ostentatious mask to go with it. Gold and white colours. Bia had hidden the clothes and mask away rather well while she was still in the Hermes cabin so shortly after her arrival but when she had pulled it out and put it on she had gotten quite a few stares. Naturally she'd waited until she was completely finished with her look for the night before she had come out. If she had not had her tattoos nobody would have recognised her, that much was certain. She'd considered covering them up but they were part of her, so she simply did not. With the dress in place and the mask covering her face she made her way over to where the ball was held. She smiled slightly and looked around. It was quite fancy. Music was playing and Bia looked around, kind of hoping she'd find somebody to dance with. Since nobody was around that seemed available for dancing, she decided to walk over to a small group of people. She recognised Flint (on of the Hermes kids) and Aurora, a daughter of Ares she had met before. At least the girl knew money, although Caiomhe was not too sure if she had the humility to deal with what one might call peasants. Not that she cared much, Bia herself knew it perfectly well, mainly because she longed for a more simple life without people constantly being so overly polite she only wanted to roll her eyes at them. She did not recognise the other two boys though, although she did not particularly care too much. As she approached she gave them a partial smile. "Good evening. Nice party you have going here." She said calmly, smiling serenely at the company. "I'm Bianni, pleasure to meet you." She introduced herself, wondering who the people were that she did not know. She doubted anybody but Aurora really knew her though. She didn't make a point of making herself known. Perhaps she ought to do so, but now was a rather nice time to start off with the socialising. It was a ball after all, so a rather good opportunity to make new contacts. Her dress: click! Her mask: Only a white gold that matches the dress better.

Flint waved to the newcomers. A boy who he'd never seen before, and a girl who he had seen a few times around camp. She looked good, wearing gold and white. The music changed once again, the band playing their final song 'If I lose myself' by One Republic. It was a song most people would be sick of, as it was constantly spammed on the radio. But luckily the band mixed it up, playing it differently to the way One Republic did. They finished the song and the band moved off stage, Jasper moving to a computer that was hooked up to speakers. He started playing Firestone by Kygo. Flint wasn't sure why he was paying so much attention to the music, it just seemed to happen. Maybe it was because his friend was playing it. He'd always been interested in his friends, and their skills. Flint believed everyone had their own talents, something only they could give the world. Nobody was worthless.
He smiled as the slowing of music cued some of the guys to ask the girls to dance. He noticed a couple of girls staring towards the stage at Jasper with interest. Flint grinned. His friend had always been the dark horse in the eyes of the ladies. He was a quiet one. Flint looked back to the group he was speaking to, holding a hand out to shake with the newcomers. "Hey I'm Flint. You guys are looking good!"

((whoops. Surprise! xD ))Laurel would have done almost anything to be able to change into her favorite pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Instead, she donned an sea-foam green chiffon gown that complemented her eyes with a lace bodice. Her dark hair was tucked away in a fussy up-do that required several tries to master. At first, Laurel had thought that her get-up was too proper for the occasion. She had imagined a small semi-formal event. But now, as she swept her gaze across the throngs of demigods in suits and gowns, she was pleased that she decided not to exchange her dress for one that was less sophisticated. What she did regret was not choosing a dress that had sleeves. As she wandered through the crowds, her arms were consciously crossed in front of her torso. Goosebumps scattered her exposed pale skin. The familiar platinum locks of Aurora Aldenberg caught Laurel’s attention in the thick gathering of nameless people. Surrounding the girl were an assortment of familiar and unfamiliar attendees. Thankful that she’d found someone that she was acquainted with, Laurel proceeded to make her way towards the group. Her trek towards them was slow and rather risky. For the first time in forever, the girl had freely chosen to wear heels. The shoes only added a mere 3 inches to her height which was not a very daunting task to other girls her age. But Laurel was an amateur when it came to walking on stilts. When she’d finally reached the group, Laurel tripped over her own feet. Thankfully, she caught herself just in time. “Excuse my clumsiness,” Laurel piped once she’d stabilized herself. Amongst Aurora were Flint and Vance, campers who’d she’d interacted with before. Joining them were two other unfamiliar faces. “I’m Laurel,” she added with a little wave. Laurel glanced around them, noticing all the dancing that was taking place. With one swift yet ungraceful move, the Daughter of Athena removed her heels and shot an awkward smile at the group of demigods. “I’m a mobile health hazard with these. I’ll be right back.” And with that, Laurel Greystone scurried back to her cabin to fetch her pair of converse. Laur's dress swag

Aurora smirked, her fingers slipping under her outfit, pulling out a slim pair of scissors from under her dress. “Not exactly wire clippers, but I suppose these will do, ja?” Putting the scissors away, Aurora returned her gaze to Vince, a small smile lining her face. “Thank you”, Aurora said, smiling at his compliment, her hands folding out individual creases at the bottom of her dress. “Nice seeing you as well”, Aurora added afterwards, her tone losing some its heavy seriousness.
Aurora simply rolled her eyes at Flint’s joke. “You better not be hitting on me”, she muttered under her breath, brushing a stray piece of hair from her porcelain face. This was done lightly, to avoid disturbing the makeup lining her face. Aurora frowned slightly, hearing America’s Suitehearts end. However, this only peaked her curiosity for the next selection, which turned out to be Imagine Dragons. They were actually pretty nice, in Aurora’s opinion. Her favorite song of theirs happened to be Ready Aim Fire. Aurora noticed a boy with a mask donned over his face, who had greeted the boy. Aurora just slightly waved to him with one of her hands, not saying much.
The next person Aurora saw was Bianni, another familiar face. Aurora waved to her and started, “Pleasure to see you here as well.” The daughter of Hecate wore a beautiful white and gold dress, and a matching mask with it.
Aurora caught the sight of Laurel Greystone, Daughter of Athena. Not the most graceful, seeing as she had just fallen head over heels, literally. Cuffing her hand over g=her lips lined with vibrant red lipstick, Aurora muted her small chuckles. Of course she had laughed at the pain and humiliation of someone else, rather than Flint’s joke.

((. I'm gonna be posting with Lyra and Jasper from now on, rather than Flint, if that's okay?))
Lyra Steele had decided to come to the dance. It was a decision that had taken her some time to make. She wasn't sure what she was going to do there, or if people even wanted her to be there. They probably didn't. Over the couple of months that Lyra had been at camp she'd failed to make any decent friends. Even her siblings didn't like her all that much. She treated people badly, told guys she liked them when she didn't, broke their hearts. And she hated herself for it. Before camp, before her dad and stepmother died... before they were killed, Lyra's life was going well. Ever since, she'd done nothing but treat people negatively, figuring that if she didn't allow people to get close, maybe she wouldn't be so bummed out all the time. And she hated herself for thinking and feeling that way. She wished it could all stop. Perhaps tonight something could happen. Something to make things better, a turning point in Lyra's life. She highly doubted this would come true.
She was wearing a mint green dress and a matching mask, which had a silver outline. Her shoes were silver too, and easy to walk in yet fancy looking. She scanned the amphitheater, her eyes eventually falling on a boy a little older than her. He was wearing a navy waistcoat suit with a little bowtie. His sarcastic grin immediately identified him as Flint Solus. She'd heard a lot about the boy, and he sounded less sufferable than other demigods. Lyra walked by him, taking his hand as she did. She smiled. "Care to give a girl a dance?",, she asked. The boy looked to the group he was talking to then back to Lyra. "Sure," he smiled. He waved at the crowd. "Later guys."
The two danced to a slow song for a while, chatting away. Lyra acted like a girl who loved life at camp, and had plenty of stories to tell. All the while she felt like kicking herself for not being herself. Flint seemed alright. He was athletic, enjoyed camp, and got to go out and see the world while on supply runs with the Hermes kids. He seemed like everything Lyra wished she was. She couldn't deny he was quite goodlooking too, which led to her leaning in close to his ear and talking over the music. "How's about we get out of here for a while?" she asked mischievously. Flint seemed to like that idea, as was obvious from his facial expression. "I don't even know your name yet, but uh, sure" he beamed. "It's Lyra. Come on" The daughter of Aphrodite led Flint away from the crowd.
