Jenny wouldn’t say she wasn’t a morning person; rather, she just wasn’t a “waking up” person. She really did love the mornings; the sleepy atmosphere of Camp Half-Blood, the sky being painted in colors she could only dream of reproducing…of course, that could only be enjoyed if one was awake. And that was the part the girl always had trouble with. Because while hero training sounded glamorous and there were a hundred and one reasons to wake up in the mornings, there were a hundred and TWO reasons to just stay in bed.
That was Jenny’s philosophy, anyway. The girl preferred to sleep in for as long as she could before getting up and having a nice productive day.
Now, that wasn’t a 100 percent always-followed philosophy. Jenny could think of reasons to wake up early. Perhaps she was struck by artistic muse and wanted to paint the sunrise, or maybe she wanted to head in early to the Mess Hall to get first dibs on the blueberry muffins. Always a possibility. Today, however, was not like other days. Jenny had special plans, and (un)fortunately, they required her to get up early to execute them.
And so Jenny woke up with the sun, and wiped the sleep out of her eyes blearily. It only took a few moments before she was charged and ready to begin. Her plans required the upmost silence, however, so Jenny tip-toed out of bed, quickly stretched, and pulled out her color chart from under her pillow. She had spent the past week carefully constructing the chart, which categorically listed (in Jenny’s opinion) the most hideous known colors to man—or at least, the most atrociously bright colors she had ever seen. The chart was vitally important to her morning plans, and once Jenny had removed a handheld mirror from her bag, the girl was ready to begin.
The next step of the plan had her slowly creeping over to her sister’s bed (where thank the gods Jenn was still asleep). Slowly, methodically, Jenny consulted the chart and slowly executed what was going to be her most epic prank (of the week, of course). One small wave of her hand, and Jenn’s hair turned a brilliant orange. After careful consideration, the back of Jenn’s eyelids turned cyan blue (not necessarily a bad color, just not particularly suiting for ‘eyeshadow’). Jenny slowly began working her way through the rest of Jenn’s face (fuchsia pink cheeks, a lime green nose, and canary yellow lips). The process was lengthy, and Jenny was in constant fear that Jenn would wake up mid-prank. But, BUT, the gods were with her and 10 minutes later everything was complete. For a finishing touch, Jenny taped up the mirror, perfectly positioned for Jenn to view her sister’s handiwork when she woke up.
Prank complete, Jenny allowed herself a smug smile before she creeped outside. She made sure to shut the door with a loud bang (perfect for pranked sisters to wake up and see the pranker’s handiwork), then immediately ran over to a window to peek in. Jenny held her breath, not daring to breathe until Jenn woke up.
