There was something that had come in the mail for her from a prospective college that she'd been looking at--AMDA in LA. Honestly, she had been up in the air with it for years, now..and at this point she didn't know if she were going to be able to go to school like she had originally wanted to. Sure, she'd been taking classes at New Rome U and she was now almost ready to graduate and probably will in December with her credits lining up--assuming the Greeks don't do something stupid like cause a war...That would certainly put a damper on her studies. Being a Theatre major was hard. There were so many credits that she needed to take and most of them were only 2 or 3 credits a piece. But, like any other challenge, Calla was ready to take this on.

Just as she was locking up her door on the way out, the praetor spotted a familiar silhouette. She didn't even bother to hold back a smile. Taking off with a running start, Calla bolted towards the man. "Jed!" she squeaked and promptly tackled...or rather just jumped on him, the way she did with anyone she knew and loved. "What brought you back here, I thought you were off doing normal military stuff?" she asked and jumped down from her perch.

It was odd returning to New Rome after spending five years away (and spending most of that time overseas), but after a couple days it felt like he had never quite left. The city had evolved since Jed had left, and there were many new faces he didn’t recognize, but his favorite gelato place was where he remembered, the people walked with the same sense of purpose they always did, and his room was exactly the way it had been when he left. Best of all, it was fantastic to see his mother again. The two had always been very close, and after detailing exactly what he’d been doing for the last five years they fell into familiar patterns. Like he’d never left.

Josiah had to remind himself it was only temporary. As great as it was to be home, the Roman lifestyle had never entirely clicked with him and rising political tensions only widened the gap between him and Camp Jupiter. After serving with the military, he’d had enough of conflict, and the only interest he had was in continuing his medical education. That could be better continued elsewhere away from Greco-Roman tensions.

Still, the boy was determined to enjoy his few weeks in New Rome, and after a few days of settling in and catching up to the New Rome pace, he was charged and ready to start searching out old friends. He couldn’t remember exactly where the Garath house was, but he’d spent enough time with the family to remember the basic route. As it turned out, he didn’t need more than that as he was promptly tackled by what appeared to be a streak of blonde. “Calla!” Jed wheezed in response, arms automatically moving to support her in response to the surprise attack. A little tensed from the unexpected meeting (which was rather stupid because he’d walked over with the intention of meeting), Josiah found himself able to relax more and shoot Calla a sheepish smile in response to her statement after she’d climbed down.

“I was, but after I finished my last tour I thought I’d come and visit.” Josiah clammed up after releasing that one statement…his social skills had never been particularly strong, but he had spent so much time working in the field that social interactions were limited and the boy found himself speechless. Racking his brain for how to naturally progress the conversation (which he was eager to because he’d missed his friend), Jed decided to temporarily skip over his newly declared neutrality (as that would come in time), and instead focus on the pleasantries. “So…what’d I miss?”
