It wasn’t atypical for Mathias to be spending his afternoon in the bars of New Rome. Honestly, seeing him sober was a rarity in itself, seeing as a large portion of his life had to do with alcohol. What wasn’t there to like about it? Oh well, addicted was a harsh word, made it sound like his habits were problematic, even though they were, but that was an issue for another day. It wasn’t like he was hurting anyone other than himself, a fact that Mathias believed triumphed the silly problems that drinking posed.
The blonde Dane was sitting at the counter, his fingers quietly drumming on the countertop. The places wasn’t too crowded. After all, it was a Sunday afternoon, he didn’t really expect much else. This was also a nicer place, not a club. He usually left on the weekends to hit the cities, for all his clubbing needs. Romans weren’t exactly the clubbing and rave type, those kinds of places didn’t flourish in the city. Most of the bars were rather nice though, and not as expensive as a mortal place of the same sets of standards. Mathias turned to the bartender, a small smile on his face as he began to order. “I’ll get a Manhattan, thanks dude”, Mathias said, as he began to wait a moment for his drink. Once that was done with, Mathias took his drink, sipping it as he rested his elbows on the countertop, taking a glance around as to see who else was there. There were a few others, mostly couples who were out for a casual drink, not a rowdy crowd.
Turning his head, Mathias noticed another man, who was definitely a head-turner, quite literally. Mathias had to tread with caution with most guys he was interested in, seeing as it wasn’t too likely to find very many other gay men around, and if his flirting wasn’t reciprocated, the chances were high that he was talking to a straight dude. But like, damn. He was easy on the eyes, pretty face. “Don’t mind if I do”, Mathias muttered under his breath, a small smirk on his face as he stood up, moving over to the other side of the countertop, where this other man was. He wasn’t too unfamiliar to Mathias, he probably had seen him somewhere around the Legion. Mathias knew the faces of a lot of people, but they probably didn’t talk. Mathias wasn’t really closed off or anything of the sort, so he’d known a lot of people.
Mathias took the seat down next to him, smiling slightly. He was dressed casually, wearing a pair of jeans, a dirtied brown flannel and a tan knit beanie, that revealed part of his spiked golden blonde hair. “Hey there”, Mathias said, playing down his heavy Danish accent subtly. “You planning to get something? Drinks are on me tonight”, he said, with a small smile.
