i'm ready to go
GET ME OUT OF MY MIND
What better place to spend the weekend than the live music capitol of the world, Austin, Texas? Apparently, the scene there was vibrant, and that was enough to catch Mathias’ eye. He didn’t really take breaks often, and he hadn’t taken a single day off in the summer. It was just barely starting to cool off in the City of Austin. The scene was wonderful, and Matt knew from the moment he touched down at the airport he was going to have a great time. There was also these little cupcake trailers all around the city, called ‘Hey Cupcake’ that sold convenient and fantastic cupcakes. He had only been in the city for about 12 hours, and he had already had 8. Eight cupcakes. No normal person should eat 8 cupcakes. Then again, when was Matt ever a normal person? He had flown halfway across the country for a concert. Well, festival to be precise, but there was a specific act he had been dying to see for the longest time.
Twenty One Pilots was a great band, one of Mattie’s favorites. When he had heard they were playing at ACL, he knew he had to grab a few tickets, just for the sake of being able to go. Besides, Austin seemed like a nice city? It had a great clubbing scene, as well as a food and drink, music, and entertainment industry. It was one of the places he’d love to settle down in, if that was even possible. He may have been Danish by birth, but he had lived in the United States for long enough that he considered the country his home. The Texan capital was quite cheap in comparison to other places he had stayed. New york nearly slaughtered his pocketbook, and it was on Greek turf, which was generally a no-no, but he was there on important business. Legit, all the flights from Denmark were landed on the east coast, so he had to travel there to pick up his mother, encountering a few Greeks on the way back. Luckily, he remained relatively unscathed.
Florence and the Machine, Alabama Shakes, Modest Mouse, The Strokes, Hozier, and best of all, Twenty One Pilots. It was a lineup he couldn’t miss. Honestly, days of blistering heat under a concert tarp were so worth it for the music. With that, Mattie rested at the table of a barbeque joint, cutting into a slice of moist brisket, black sunglasses on as he tuned out to the background of the music behind him. He was unaware to the fact that perhaps he might not have been the only one around, enjoying the great food and music of the setting.
